Although nearly all residents at Cambridge at Southern are GSU students and it is just across the street from campus, Cambridge is privately owned and is professionally managed. Click here for more information about the ownership and management.
Cambridge at Southern contains two adjacent sections: The Palms features an active, social setting centered on a popular palm tree-ringed pool. The Pines offers a quieter environment of tall trees and ponds, with another pool featuring a large sundeck. Residents of both areas can enjoy all of the features of the community.
You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.
Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Cambridge has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.
Each resident at Cambridge at Southern pays a flat rate that includes:
- Furniture
- High speed Internet
- Unlimited electricity, water/sewer, trash removal
- Washer and dryer in each apartment
- Community features — pools, fitness centers, etc.
Yes. All apartments feature a private bathroom for each bedroom, except the 4-bedroom 2-bath apartments, in which two bedrooms share an adjoining, compartmentalized bathroom.
Yes. Each apartment includes a complete set of furniture, including full size beds, desks and chairs, leather-style sofa(s) and side chair(s), coffee table, entertainment console and dinette set or counter stools. The 4-bedroom townhouses even have a second furnished living room.
Within 7 days after a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to do one of two things: provide a qualifying guarantor (often a parent), or pre-pay the final 2 installments. In limited cases, we may also waive the guarantor requirement if a resident has sufficient income of their own.
Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Cambridge at Southern also offers automatic payment by credit card, debit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.
Your living costs at Cambridge can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Cambridge. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.
Cambridge at Southern is designed and offered for students at Georgia Southern University and other local colleges. The per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Therefore, applications are accepted only from students at one of these local colleges or universities. Cambridge at Southern is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes student residents with children, at no extra cost other than regular charges for each bedroom space selected by the resident. In order to match roommates in shared apartments with college students, roommate consent is required for any occupant who is not a college student.
Cambridge at Southern provides a controlled entry system, courtesy patrols, plus security cameras in select locations. Management staff are also on call 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.
All indoor and adjacent areas of Cambridge at Southern are smoke-free. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of roommates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests. Cambridge at Southern is pet-friendly, subject to limits on animals and breed.
Cambridge at Southern offers free surface parking for all residents.
Residents can walk or bike the half-mile to the heart of campus, and across the street to Paulson Stadium.
